The one page session plan.

This is the page I fill out before I build anything. Five boxes. If you cannot fill them in, the session is not ready, and no amount of slide work will fix it.

Free. One email to send it, and you can leave the list any time.

The five boxes

Fill them in order. The order is the point.

  1. The behavior. One sentence on what is different on Monday. Not what they will know, what they will do. If you cannot name it, stop here.
  2. The opening. The question every person answers in writing in the first three minutes. No agenda slide, no round of introductions.
  3. The participation design. Where the quiet person contributes without performing: chat, poll, written reflection, a breakout of three with a named reporter.
  4. The close. Decisions, owners and dates on screen before anybody leaves. Written by you during the session, not after.
  5. The thirty day check. The date you will look at whether the behavior changed, and the one number you will look at. Put it on your calendar now.

Why five boxes and not a template pack

Most facilitation templates are long enough that filling them in feels like progress. This one is short enough that the empty box is obvious, which is the whole value.

The most common failure it catches is box one. A session with no named behavior is a presentation, and presentations do not need facilitation.

Send me the page.

I will email you the one page plan as a PDF. You will also get new articles twice a month, and nothing else.
